The Justice Department announced on Tuesday that it had disrupted a covert influence operation by Russia. The operation used artificial intelligence to spread propaganda in the United States, Europe, and Israel, with the aim of undermining support for Ukraine and creating political divisions. The department, along with the governments of Canada and the Netherlands, seized two internet domains in the United States and shut down 968 fake accounts created by the Russian government. The Russian network used an AI-enhanced software package to generate fictitious user profiles and promote propaganda on social media.
